Lesson Week:7 1st-4th 2015-2016 School Year

Our 7th week of school for the fall will be November 2nd-6th

This is our complete week-being a four day week and 30 min Friday morning:
Subjects included are: Geography, Spanish, French, Language Arts, Math, Science and Good Citizenship and memorization/copy work.

If you see any dead links, or mistakes, please leave me a comment!

Note about the next three weeks. had a small list of Language arts skills I wanted my littles to master this year. Turns out, I should have made a bigger list! I also have a situation where my kids are in crafty moods. So for the next three weeks school will be a bit different (yay homeschooling!) We will do math as schedules, but Language Arts will be free literacy packets I find. I will list them all, they are Thanksgiving themed, and you can choose too. It involved writing, crafts, vocabulary, and Thanksgiving themed books. All FREE resources. In Science, I will list the free very large anatomy coloring book that my kids are crazy over. They are enjoying learning the names and testing one another (without my prompting) to see you can memorize more. I am going with their flow for the Holidays. :)

Please when you use a resource on a blog, or Teacher Pay Teacher site, be sure to say Thank you!!

Monday:

Good Citizenship
Note: one of the few Texas homeschool requirements
10 min

1) Recite secular Pledge of Allegiance.
2)  Make thank you cards, cookies to freeze and a craft to thank Veterans at local nursing homes.

Math:
1 hour
Note: At the 7th week mark, we have quite a bit of review. With exception to our skip counting and measuring, we will only do the past 6 weeks review twice a month at the beginning and ending of the month. We will add on new tasks we need to learn for the next 6 weeks.

Skills this week. Review skip counting by 2's, 5's,10's and 25's. number words, tally marks, odd/even, greater than-less than-equal than, addition and subtraction triple digits with no regrouping, multiplication, telling time with analog and digital clocks, place value and standard and expanded form to 100's, non standard measurement.

1) Morning review work: skip counting by 2,'s 5,'s, 10's. Students will write with dry erase marker on their personal boards as we recite these together . (3 min)
a. Give everyone a counting chart. Write numbers 11-20 in word form on personal boards. Give 2 numbers that they will write the tally marks for, and tell if they are odd or even.  Give two number sets to decide greater than, less than, equal than. (5 min)
b.Review equivalent time chart, then using the clocks on teachwithme.com, show the poster on page 10. Go over the vocabulary. Then, Using the clocks from teachwithme.com. Write three digital times on the white board. Students will use page 25 to fill in the answers. They can use their craft clocks to help. (save this worksheet to math notebook to fill in three every day.) (4 min)
c. As a class, we will do one double digit addition and subtraction problem. 1 single digit multiplication. For division problem use a double digit dividend and single digit divider with no remainder- written on the white board. For addition and subtraction children can use bear counters to solve, reminding the to get MORE for addition and Take Some for subtraction. For multiplication, they can solve by making groups, by adding bears into mini cups (mini cups are the groups) For division, they solve by figuring out what is the dividend---that is represented by paper plates with wide mouths drawn on and eyes for hungry people. Then they figure out the divisor( or number of objects to be divided represented by bears) They then try to give each hungry person an equal amount of bears to find the answer. Be sure to call each answer by it's correct term found here  (10 minutes)
d. Practice writing several numbers in standard and expanded form to 100.

2. Show Coin Anchor Charts and go through them.
